Khataa maine ko’ii bhaarii nahiiN kii
amiir-e-shah’r se yaarii nahiiN kii
(amiir-e-shah’r : powerful people of the city)
kisii mansab kisii ohde kii khaatir
ko’ii tadbiir baazaarii nahiiN kii
(mansab : exalted position; ohde : position of influence; tadbiir : efforts)
bas itnii baat per duniyaa Khafaa hai
ke maine tujh se Ghaddaarii nahiiN kii
mirii baatoN meN kyaa taasiir hotii
kabhii maiN ne adaakaarii nahiiN kii
(taasiir : effect)
mire aiboN ko ginvaayaa to sab nekisii ne merii Gham-Khwaarii nahiiN kii

BOOK ON SHAFIQUE JAUNPURINew Delhi: Prof Syed Ali Zahid Hussain Zaidi, vice chancellor of Ruhel Khand University released a book on Shafique Jaunpuri titled Shafique Jaunpuri: A Study by noted poet and critic Tabish Mehdi at a ceremony at Ghalib Academy on July 28. It was organised by Bazme Ahbab of Jamia Nagar, New Delhi. Prof Zaidi said that despite his overall poetic and literary personality, Shafique Jaunpuri was not given the position which he deserved.Prof Altaf Azmi, vice chairman of Delhi Urdu Academy called Mehdi's work a literary rediscovery. Mehdi said that by writing the book he had tried to perform his duty. Presiding over the meeting Prof Tahir Mahmood said that whoever wrote on a towering literary figure, was himself a great artist. Samiullah and Zamir Azmi recited some ghazals of Jaunpuri. Later a poetic symposium was also held which was chaired by Dr Syed Muhammad Farooq of Himalaya Drugs Limited
